I am waiting for Lone to do his ride report on his BMW.. if he still owns it. I rode a 2006 BMW 800 with all 3 bags and loaded up. I was impressed with the power and the way it handled. Like Madjak mentioned, I would like to go for the Dual sport bike and stay at the 800 cc. KLR or DR650 are great bikes and the aftermarket parts are unreal. Same as the Vstrom 650 or the 1000. I know a lot of guys that own them and love them. 1 guy sold his 2005 DL650 and just put money down on the 2012 version. Does not need the speed / power as his last bike did over 65,000 km and as he said " Every way I pointed it, it went".
Can argue with that.

Now that the bikes show is over in Alberta and BC... now I scan the ads hoping to find "that" deal on a BMW or DL or....... and grab it.

when will riding season begin!?!?!?! argh

    .... it never stops for us sidecar riders. We go atleast once per month for a meet up, and just this week was bombing around through the deep packed snow (used 2 WD) and smilin' like crazy
