I really like the Kawasaki 1600 Vulcan(was the nomad but same bike). Was really smooth and felt and looked right to me.

Everyone is different.

As mentioned get the one that makes you smile.

I forgot to mention that I finally got to sit on a Katana 750  ;D...same leg room as my GS500, or atleast very similar...bummer  :(...nice bike, felt no heavier than my GS and would have double the power...oh well... ::)

As for cruisers, I like what is know as muscle or power cruisers  8)...or atleast the look and feel of them.  I really like the M50 (older style) and the Vulcan 900 Custom in the mid-size class, but if I head for the bigger bikes...the M90, Kawasaki Mean Streak and the Yamaha Star Warrior...yup... :D

If I decide to go sport touring, I could go with the Bandit, the Yamaha FZ1 or the Yamaha MT-01...the MT-01 has the Warrior V-twin engine in a sport touring chassis...the seating position is very similar to the Bandit...but it has 110lb/ft or torque...oooooo aaaaaahhh  ;D....and the sound of the bike is awesome... 8)

But the sensible choice is the mid-size cruisers, or the sport/adventure bikes...V-Strom or Versys...but they have unique looks, to be polite...I'm warming to them, but not sure if I would pay for one over the other choices I have... :-\

Sooo, still lookin'...

Later.

I agree with you there Madjak - that's the style I ended up going with (Victory Hammer).  It's still a cruiser, but it allows me to be aggressive in the twisties, it's a real treat to ride, and most importantly, it fits me like a glove.

I commend you for looking at so many bikes - alot of folks get one style stuck in their mind and then end up buying a bike that doesn't really meet their needs/riding style or isn't as comfy as another style would be.  You'll be very happy in the end when you finally do pull the trigger on your new ride.  Happy hunting!  ;)

Yeah, the Vegas 8-Ball is only about $3000 more than the M90...really nice bike...but it is still $3000...I will have a hard time getting the wife to okay a $10,500 expense, never mind almost $14,000...

I may have to wait for an extra year, but I don't think I can...I might get the cheaper bike, and save up for an upgrade in a few years.  Although I am hoping that I will be happy with the next one for quite a while...

Katana is a good ride. Engine based on old air/oil cooled GSX-R motor. Which is a direct descendant of ththe Suzuki GS line of the late 70's/early 80's. Keep the carbs in synch and she'll do you good. I like the bandit too, but I feel cramped when I sit on one. I'm 6'1" with a normal inseam, so most of my height is in my upper body. I'm not one doe cruisers, but to each their own....

3 of the guys at work have Victories(all that ride actually i must have missed the memo)
they really seam to like them.

One swapped from a sport bike
other is an old returning rider
other is a new rider.

all seem happy and no talk of replacments.

I will say they are really nice to sit on but i have not ridden them.

I'm not sure I would want to pay for them...but I do like the Vegas...you know, if someone is feeling generous... ;D

They are really nice bikes, with great detailing...but the Vegas 8-Ball was $13,900 ish...and that is pretty much the lowest priced bike they offer   :o...I am now looking at used bikes...I'm just too cheap to shell out that kinda dough...I may just end up going for a 2007-2008 Suzuki M50...they are on Kijiji for around $6000ish... ::)

They are a decent bike, that sound and look great and obviously have a decent buy in...kinda takin morgal's advice, pick the one that makes you smile...??...only problem is, most of them make me smile.   ;)
