PLAN "B" is now in effect.
We postponed this run due to impending frost warnings, forecasted rain, high winds, and possible snow in higher elevations-
Meet up on Sunday, 12 Sept'10

Thanks   ;D, I had a pretty good day...got a couple of pretty good gifts...big party in Calahoo last night at my sisters place...wasn't feeling so hot this morning   :o, but about 8L of water and a good breakfast...all is good now... 8)

We could end up with a pretty large group on the 12th...I think I have three plus me from Red Deer area, with a possibility of two  more...hopefully we get a nice September and don't have to worry about snow warnings...that would suck...

Later.

Happy belated Madjak!

I can probably make this (starting out from Calgary) if it's on the 11th or 12th.  I'll see if I can round up other Calgary riders.  Let's pick a date and I'll throw it on the calendar.

Thanks...

I think we are aiming for the 12th...that is what I have told the guys from the Red Deer area...since we normally have rides on Sunday...easier to get away on the "Day of Rest"...

I hope everyone else is planning this...

Later.

870kms for the Edmonton folks if you start counting at Spruce Grove... ;)

I hope that doesn't scare anyone off, I am planning on stopping every 1-1.5hrs on my trip...gotta give the buns a rest...lol

Hope to see you in Rocky Mountain House!!

I should be alright. I had a couple 900km-1000km days on my last trip and that was with a hematoma the size of a grapefruit in my thigh/hip.

Speaking of which, I'm still getting the media together for a ride report of it. I should really get on that.

Do we have a route plan? I'd be interested to know of any secondary highways or less-known routes through the national parks up in the mountains.

Well, so far I have two guys plus me that are planning on making the ride.  Another friend through work may also join us...so three or four from the Red Deer area.

One more week to finalize everything...let's hope the weather is better next week than this one... ;)

Are we making this a rain or shine event...or are we going to put an alternate date out there?   ::)

I just checked the weather forcast and it looks like rain...which could be snow at higher elevations...not quite sure if I'm ready for that one... :o

Chime in and let us know what your thoughts are...

I will wait to see what the weather is like, I have had my share of rain and winds:
I arrived home last night ( Tuesday )from a 1600km trip. Start of point was leaving Duncan Sunday @ 4am for the 5:15 ferry. From Richmond to Hope I had rain ( light ). From there, I made my way to Castlegar BC via the Hope-Princeton. I had - high winds to the point if the winds died I would have fell over and slide across the hwy, massive rain and 2 deg temps and construction all the way to Castlegar ( shout out a "thanks" to family that offered me a seat in their van, but I could not unclench my grip from my bars ). I had a late start from Castlegar ( left at noon ) Same weather from Castlegar to Invermere where I meet some riders at the gas station. They had light snow flakes from Banff via the Kootney Park, and as it was almost 6pm I decided to spend the night. Tuesday was half-half and foggy till I hit Banff, from there it was cool but clear all the way home.

Environment Canada forecasts +13 +/- for Edmonton, RMH, Jasper, Hinton, Edson with clouds, and 30% chance of precip.
This, I don't think, ought to stand in our way.
I'm heading out and meeting up with fellow beekers at the Acheson start point (7-7:15am), then 8:15 at East of Drayton Valley intersection, and then Timmies in RMH, - as long as there is no ice on the roads or weather warnings in the planned route.
If the general concensus of those who do meet in RMH is to 'not go West due to weather', then we'll have atleast met up with our fellow Alberta beekers; then we can always take the long way back home after possibly a hot soup in RMH.

What do you think.

Yup, looks like the rain forecast has been pushed off until Monday...I like the idea of meeting in Rocky anyway...I will check the road reports for both routes before I come out and share the info when I get there...

I'm in!!   ;)
