MEDICINE HAT -- A motorcycle crash during a charity fundraiser toy run in southern Alberta has left one person dead.A 49-year-old man died Saturday after his bike rear-ended another motorcycle as both were riding on the highway as part of an 825-bike motorcade in the Medicine Hat Toy Run.Police say the man was riding at about 80 km/h when he failed to slow down for a 55-year-old woman, who was driving her bike at a slower speed, and rear-ended her.Police were at the rear of the convoy, which was on its way from Irvine to Medicine Hat at the time.The woman was taken to hospital in serious condition. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
That's awful. What a terrible place for a tragedy like this to happen.
