Insurance with Learners Permit
« on: May 12, 2010, 06:16:58 PM »
I'm confused about if we need my son to get his own insurance for my bikes who just has his learners. When I talk to my insurance broker he says he should get his class 6 before he applies, but is he covered on my insurance on the bike while he has his learners?

Can he ride my bikes, which are insured under my name, on roads so he can get some experience?

Thanks guys for your help -

Hey dkane and welcome to the forum!

As for your question, every insurance policy is different and I suggest you call your insurance company and ask them directly.  I would think that it's okay but you should double-check to make sure.

I have a question about this, is it possible for my father to put me under his insurance even though he is from SK? (he is fully licenced)

It depends on his plan.

Some plans won't even let my wife drive my car...others would let you drive my car and be covered.

Talk to the insurance company, there may be an increase in cost to add a secondary driver.
