Hey there!
So I am a nooB, I started riding about three weeks ago when I took the course through Ctec.. Great course btw, highly recommend it.
I picked up my bike on May 12th and i have 1600kms on it already!!

Of course that is commuting to south edmonton from where i live north of stony plain for work :-)
But I have also done a few trips and planning a day run with my buddy to jasper this weekend!

Welcome to the forum! Do you have some photos of your Bike?

I just picked up a 2002 EX500R, and live on the south side haha, Did you have any previous experience before the CTEC Course? Dirt bikes?

Well, hello there new fellow riders,

Some riders meet up at Timmies (at Rona) in Spruce Grove, on Thursdays @ 6:30pm....heading out for an evening cruise, weather permitting. Then we schedule the following Sunday Noon rides from there.
You are all welcome to join in.

Hello Jon!
Sounds very enticing!  I am sure I will be able to make it to more than a few of your gatherings this summer!!! Thanks for the tip!

I took my beginner course about a week before you...Alberta Motorcycle Training, in the Red Deer area.  I will be heading to Calahoo in the next few weeks...family lives there...maybe we can go for a blast...

I'll keep you posted.   ;)

Luv to Gerry, but I don't know if the Boss/wife would like the idea...or maybe she would like to have me out of her hair for a while...lol

She doesn't really like it when I do road trips for work...

When are you planning your trip, or are you looking for a riding buddy first?  I thought I read in here that you were heading out on your own and hoping to meet up with someone on the road?

I'll have to read that post again...

Madjak30,

I was trying to get ikshar to call in sick for a few days and join me in a ride from Edm to Victoria, into WA and then across the border to Christina Lake BC and a few other points. But, she did the responsible thing and went to work. ( newbies ). I did met up with a large group of riders and hit just under 3900km/6 days.

ikshar and I will the EDM-Jasper - RkyMTN house run. Then a big run into the USA next year.

Man, I think I would be crippled from being in the saddle that long...I'm looking at getting a taller bike for next season...and maybe with a little more power... ::)...lol

I think I have it narrowed down to three bikes...

Suzuki Bandit 1250, Suzuki V-Strom 1000 or the Suzuki M90 cruiser   :o...I know...three totally different bikes, but all give me more leg room (more comfort) and more power...I'll have to do more research and figure out what type of rider I am....??  I like the sporty riding on my GS so the Bandit is a sport/touring bike, but also like the style of the cruiser...and the V-Strom is the do it all bike... :P :-\

We'll see...

Later.
