Small mistake, lucky turn out
« on: April 19, 2010, 04:29:15 PM »
Hey guys, I bought a 94 Yamaha YZF750 last fall. It didn't run and the rear shock was blown, both of which were easy enough fixes. Night I finished the rear shock I took it out with no previous riding experience and tested to see if it was fixxed. Did about 180kph on the highway with no issues then backed off and took it easy. Went to take a right off a stop sign and didn't know you shouldn't give much throttle till your all the way through the corner. Instead of it just spinning and just letting me fall, it hooked and sent me straight into a meridian, broke my collar bone and possible something in my hip (hospital didn't x-ray my hip) but I got up a rode the bike home before going.

Since then I've been slowly working on a street fighter conversion because it's gonna cost way too much to bother fixxing the fairing. The bike now sits in flat white primer (and is staying that way) and I'm still waiting for some money to order the new headlights to finish it off.

She's not the prettiest thing out there, but it runs and rides great and that's good enough for me :P

P.S. I did all the paint myself but I don't have much patience for that kind of stuff so it's not 100%, will probably redo it next winter

Well I saw the bike sitting in the garage all covered in dust, so I tucked back all the wires for the lights and just rode it down to wash it off. Realized the only scary part of getting back on it was just till the end of the driveway. Rode awesome and feels that much nicer with all the wind hitting you instead of getting blocked by the fairing.

Well yesterday my new headlights came in and with the terrible weather today I decided to go all out and even build a whole new wiring harness for them just to kill some time. So now I just need to get a bracket made to mount the gauge cluster in a different spot and I'll be good to get out and ride all over.

P.S. I'll get pics up one the weather gets better

I will when I can roll my bike into the driveway without having to shovel 6" of snow out of the way :P

Well I just rode it down to a fab shop to get a bracket made to attach the speedo. I should be able to have some pics up by the end of the weekend and probably have some professional ones done after next weekend

Took some pics in the driveway. Didn't stop to wash it on the ride home from the fab shop, ohh well, still looks good :P

I'll try to get some nicer photos with her all clean and with a nicer camera and an actual photographer
